Ryan’s Ryde -  2010 - Last year’s event was a great success, so we invite you to this year’s Ryan’s Ryde supporting teenagers with cancer. The ride out will meet at Hopwood services Junction 2 of the M42 at 11.30 for a prompt departure at 12.00. This year’s destination is the Old Beams Pub Dunley Road, Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, DY13 0AA.

Bikes, scooters, sidecars, trikes and three wheelers welcome. Suggested donation for ride out £5.00. The approximate distance for the ride is 40 miles. Free camping and Sat night party at the Rose and Crown, junction 3 M42 (Alcester rd Portway Birmingham). 11th 12th Heritage Open Days Weekend in Stourport-on-Severn

Keep 11th and 12th September clear!  As part of the National Heritage Open Days Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust will be opening the Staterooms of the Castle and conducting a limited number of  interactive Time Traveller Tours, taking children and their parents back in time to join King George III and his family at Breakfast with the Bishop.

Tours can be booked on the 11th and 12th September from 11.00 a.m. in the Entrance to the County Museum at the Castle. Numbers are limited so booking early on the day is advisable. The Castle will be open from 11a.m. – 5. p.m. and the Museum is also offering tours of their stores. Entrance and tours are free on these special days.

A spokesperson for the Trust said: “This is what we hope will be the first of many exciting Time Traveller Tours, each visiting a different period of the Castle’s colourful history. We want people to see what a special place the castle is. We are always looking for more volunteers who want to become involved in events like these. Our Time Traveller re-enacters include adults and children. “

The Trust was formed to try to buy the castle to preserve it for public benefit and enjoyment for generations to come.
