Stourport Pride
'Stourport Pride' is one of a number of projects which has been developed as part of the Stourport Forward Market Towns Initiative programme (MTI). In February 2006 consultants Taylor Young were appointed to prepare a Public Realm Strategy for Stourport-on-Severn. The final report has now been approved as a strategy document for Stourport, by Wyre Forest District Council, following a public consultation period.
The study provides a comprehensive and themed approach to the design of public spaces throughout Stourport-on-Severn, specifically the town centre. In doing so, it identifies distinct character areas namely Gilgal, Town Centre, Riverside and Canal Basins. The aim is to make more of key assets and the opportunities emerging from the ongoing redevelopment and regeneration of the town. A project is currently being planned for 2007/8 to deliver the first set of improvements to the town.
The Public Realm Design Guide is split into four sections:
Introduction and Baseline
Conceptual Framework
Lighting Strategy and Design Codes
Implementation and Appendices
Bridge Street Basins Development Link
Wyre Forest District Council has produced a development brief for ‘Bridge Street Basins Link’ in Stourport-on-Severn. The east side of Bridge Street (Bridge Street Basins Link) is identified for redevelopment in the District Local Plan (Policy STC.4). The brief sets out a series of more detailed planning requirements for the site and the key challenges and opportunities.
The Council adopted the brief as a Supplementary Planning Document on 14th December 2005 following public consultation.
