Stourport Canal Basins Volunteer Programme
Guided Historic Tours
Volunteer Task Description
Volunteers are required to carry out the historic guided tours which we would like to include in our events programme. Volunteers will be required to take tourists, visitors and interest groups on walking tours of Stourport Canal Basins. The tours will outline the history of the site, point out important historical features and structures, talks about the important historical characters associated with the area and answer questions. Volunteers will not be discouraged if they wish to dress up as the historical characters of the canal basins as part of the guided tour.
Volunteer Person Specification
An enthusiasm for history would be advantageous although not necessary as full training will be given into the history Stourport Canal Basins and its features. The ability to project your voice clearly along with a reasonable level of confidence speaking to a crowd of tourists is essential.
Commitment Required
The task will take place during selected weeks / weekends throughout the year. We would welcome any volunteers wishing to help out for as little as an hour or as much as the whole day. There is the potential for this task to become part of the long term aspirations to have regular historic tours included in an ongoing events programme for Stourport.
