Clear vegetation from historic dry stone walls
Volunteer Task Description
Volunteers are required to assist with the restoration of Stourport Canal Basins by clearing built up vegetation on the historic dry stone wall in the lower basin area of the site. The task requires volunteers to clear vegetation from the brickwork to prepare the wall for repair and re-pointing. Volunteers will be required to work from ground level to head height to scrub away vegetation which has built up between the brickwork. Guidance will be provided giving all volunteers the necessary skills and equipment required to carry out the task.
Volunteer Person Specification
No skills are required, however due to the manual nature of the task volunteers are required to possess a reasonable level of physical ability. The work will be carried out from ground level to head height away from the waters edge. Life jackets and safety equipment can be provided if requested.
Commitment Required
The task will take place during selected weekends throughout the year. We would welcome any volunteers wishing to help out for as little as an hour or as much as the whole day.
