Repair brickwork to historic warehouse floor
Volunteer Task Description
Volunteers are required to assist with the restoration of Stourport Canal Basins by repairing the brickwork to the floor of the historic warehouse adjacent to Mart Lane. The task requires volunteers to clear vegetation from the brickwork and re-point damaged brickwork where needed. Volunteers may be required to work on their hands and knees to scrub away vegetation which has built up between the brickwork. A conservation expert will provide full training giving all volunteers the necessary skills and equipment required to carry out the task.
Volunteer Person Specification
Volunteers skilled in this type of work would be advantageous however no skills or qualifications are required as full training will be given. Due to the manual nature of the task, volunteers are required to possess a reasonable level of physical ability. The work will take place near the water edge and will be carried out at ground level. Life jackets and safety equipment will be provided where required.
Commitment Required
The task will take place over three separate weeks. There will be a training course on the first day of each week giving inexperienced volunteers the opportunity to learn the skill required to carry out the task. Volunteers must attend one full training session. We do ask that volunteers commit to at least 4 days which can be spread over the three weeks.
